WASHINGTON: The Brunswick Group, the trans-Atlantic PR firm, has named Barbara "Barie" Carmichael a partner. She will be based in the firm's Washington, DC office.
Most recently, Carmichael was EVP at Visa. She sat on the executive management committee, and reported to the CEO.
At Visa she was responsible for overseeing the company's communications, leading a team of 18. She also supervised the integration of PR with Visa's brand strategy.
From 1990 through 2001, Carmichael worked at Dow Corning. When she left, she was corporate VP and chief communications officer. During her tenure at Dow, Carmichael led the company's communications on the infamous controversy over silicone breast implants.
