LAKE SUCCESS, NY: Canon's consumer-imaging division has parted ways with Rowland Communications Worldwide after nearly two decades.

LAKE SUCCESS, NY: Canon's consumer-imaging division has parted ways with Rowland Communications Worldwide after nearly two decades.

Deborah Szajngarten, PR manager for the consumer-imaging division, declined to state why the company and the New York-based agency were severing ties after about 18 years.

Edelman is currently working on a project for the division. Szajngarten said that in about four months she would take a look at the division's PR needs to determine whether to issue an RFP for a new agency.

The consumer-imaging division includes all audio and visual products, such as cameras, camcorders, printers, and scanners.

Canon is the second camera and image company this year that has broken long-term ties with its PR firm. In August, Fuji Photo Film USA picked Text 100 as its new agency of record, after working with Edelman for 21 years.

Rowland did not return a call seeking comment by press time.
