MIAMI: Hispanic PR Wire (HPRW) has spun off Hispanic Digital Network (HDN), a service that provides Hispanic publications with free news websites, as an independent internet media company. Manny Ruiz, CEO of HPRW, will remain at the helm of both companies, but Bill Gato, former creative director for two Florida radio stations and HDN's newly appointed president, will run day-to-day operations. Claudia Phillips, formerly of ad agency Marc USA, was appointed COO.

NEW YORK: Plesser Associates has hired Taryn Lynds as SAE. Lynds, previously PR director for AeA (formerly the American Electronics Association), will be responsible for general account work with an emphasis on tech-related clients.

PALO ALTO, CA: Citigate Cunningham has added three tech companies to its roster of clients. Topspin Communications provides the foundation for switched computing, a new model that allows industry-standard computing resources to be deployed quickly; Affinova provides hi-tech services for product design, development, and testing; and Maxspeed develops thin client terminals that access applications processing on a

central server.

SAN MATEO, CA: Joan Stone and Joanne Rasch have joined A&R Partners as directors. Stone was formerly a MD at Citigate Cunningham, while Rasch was previously a VP at Matthews Media Group.

ALLEN, TX: Ceterus Networks has selected Calysto Communications as its AOR. Ceterus provides an integrated platform that enables high-speed data and voice-access services over any existing copper or fiber infrastructure.

CLARIFICATIONS: In the September 8 story about the hiring of Charlie Perkins by Ernst & Young, the fact that Korn/Ferry had handled the search was inadvertently left out. In the September 1 feature "On the Same Team," Bristol-Myers Squibb was singled out as a sponsor of several Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure events. What was not included was the fact that the foundation relies on additional sponsors locally, as well as national sponsors Yoplait, Adecco Staffing, American Airlines, and others.
