Lori McTavish, SVP of communications, has left Kmart. McTavish resigned August 18, but remained on the job until September 2.

"It was very important for me to complete the Chapter 11 process and end on a high note," said McTavish. Kmart emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy earlier this year.

Janet Kelly, who was hired on September 2 as SVP and chief administrative officer at the troubled retailer, will now oversee PR. She had been EVP of corporate development and administration, general counsel and secretary at cereal-maker Kellogg.

Jack Ferry, Kmart's corporate communications director, said that the retailer hasn't decided

if McTavish's position will be filled, but he stressed that putting PR under Kelly does not signify any slowing in Kmart PR efforts.

"There is a lot of forward activity taking place here," Ferry said.
