NEW YORK: Ziff Davis Media has launched an event marketing group that will focus on the business and technology communities.
Executives from TM Media, a New York-based executive events company recently purchased by Ziff Davis, will head the unit.
The new unit's events will leverage Ziff Davis editorial brands, such as PC Magazine, eWeek and CIO Insight.
"Most technology events are out of sync with the needs of IT companies and their customers," said James Hasl, a co-founder of TM Media. "Audience quality and a lack of qualified sales leads are two concerns we hear from IT marketing executives. In this events landscape, there aren't many that are worth buying."
The new business unit will complement the media company's custom/conference group, which produces events that bring together senior-level IT buyers and technology influencers. In contrast, the events marketing group will be putting together much bigger forums.
"We're looking at events that could involve as many as 5,000 people," Hasl said.
