Dolby�s PR director resigns as agency review rolls along

SAN FRANCISCO: Dolby?s director of PR has decided to leave the company in the midst of a search for a new consumer agency of record.

SAN FRANCISCO: Dolby?s director of PR has decided to leave the company in the midst of a search for a new consumer agency of record.

Jim Arnold, who has been with the electronics technology company for nearly six years, has decided to move back to Southern California to pursue a career in documentary filmmaking.

Arnold said that the positive reception his documentary Our Brothers Our Sons received at film festivals last year reignited his desire to make more such movies, but he felt he couldn?t pursue that and run Dolby?s PR operations.

As a result, Dolby?s search for a PR firm to represent the company?s consumer division will slow down. Arnold said he wants a new director of PR on board before a decision is made. The company began its search in July, and anticipated having a new agency on board by the end of September. Arnold said an agency would most likely be selected later in the fall.

Arnold will supervise Dolby?s in-house PR team as it moves forward with the agency search, until the company hires his replacement.
