LOS ANGELES: Boutique agency mPRm has decided to close its New York office by the end of the year, citing a slowdown in East Coast film business.
"The economics and competitive climate in New York are quite different than they are in LA," explained mPRm co-president Rachel McCallister. "Our New York office was less diversified in terms of the work it carried. It was mainly a film office, and there are too many agencies and fewer films."
The office had seven staffers, one of whom will relocate to LA. MPRm will continue to have an East Coast presence through partnerships with other firms and the use of freelancers.
The LA office continues to employ about 30 people, and has a diverse account load, including film, TV, new media, lifestyle, and home-entertainment clients.
