DENVER: Quiznos Subs has decided to stick with Ogilvy PR Worldwide after recently changing ad agencies.
Ogilvy has worked for the 2,500-store chain on a retainer basis for six months, but has done projects for the chain for over several years, said Stacie Lange, VP of PR.
"We believe they really understand our brand, they really understand our business," she said of the decision to stay with Ogilvy without hearing presentations from other agencies. The company has been reviewing its outside agencies since June.
Ogilvy will handle national consumer and corporate relations work, as well as crisis communications for the privately held company.
Quiznos is in the midst of rapid expansion, opening an average of one new outlet every 11 hours, but local PR for new openings is handled internally by Lange.
Ogilvy has three people working on the account in its Denver office, which is in the same building as Quiznos' corporate offices.
The chain had used Cliff Freeman & Partners in New York for advertising, but recently confirmed that it was switching to The Martin Agency in Richmond, VA, an Interpublic company.
As new ads debut next year, Ogilvy will develop PR to support them. In some cases, PR may take the lead in communicating company messages about quality and Quiznos' brand attributes, Lange said.
Quiznos takes an integrated approach to marketing efforts, using PR and advertising together with in-store displays and other tools, Lange said. "Our marketing department gets its strength from its integration," she said.
