NEW YORK: Omnicom Group purchased a majority interest in Mercury Public Affairs (MPA) last week, adding the shop to its Diversified Agency Services (DAS) group. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded in 1999 by Kieran Mahoney, Greg Strimple, and Kirill Goncharenko, MPA offers issues management, political consulting, public opinion research, crisis communications, and advertising. It has offices in White Plains, Albany, and Manhattan.

MPA clients include AT&T, the Distilled Spirits Council, Sallie Mae, Lockheed Martin, Pacific Gas & Electric, and Keyspan Energy.
The firm joins Omnicom PR holdings Ketchum, Fleishman-Hillard, Porter Novelli, Cone, and Clark & Weinstock. The holding group also owns advertising shops BBDO and DDB.
