Earbags are bandless earmuffs. Each bag, disconnected from the other, slides over one ear, and snaps into place by pressing gently toward the head. They are available in three sizes: small, medium, and large.
You might remember these from the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, where athletes in the opening ceremony donned them. Katie Couric also sported a pair on the Today show, and called them "toasty warm...and quite a fashion statement." That they are. I tried out my pair last weekend, which happened to be the coldest yet this season. With temperatures in the low 40s, I probably would have opted for the treadmill, but decided to put faith in my Earbags, and ventured out for a run along the Hudson River. The bags did not so much as shift throughout my entire run, and while the whipping wind rendered my hands and nose frozen by the end, my ears were left completely unaffected - quite warm, in fact. The verdict: They work, they look good (as earmuffs go), and they're cheap. Get a pair. Any questions? Write us at toybox@prweek.com Sara Calabro writes Toy Box.
