MONTVALE, NJ: Rob Moran has left Subaru of America to become the manager of product public relations at Mercedes-Benz USA. He will report to Scott Keogh, general manager of corporate communications.
Moran said he was attracted to Mercedes because of the brand's reputation and history. "I really believe in the product and what the vehicle stands for from a quality and a history standpoint," he said.
He will oversee product and technology PR, working with the auto media. He'll also work on PR for Mercedes-Benz Classic, a part of the company that restores old cars and deals with Mercedes history and traditions.
Moran had been product PR manager and corporate communications manager at Subaru.
Moran said he's currently developing Mercedes' media plans for next year, when the company has several major launches in the US and Europe.
Mercedes saw its overall US vehicle sales rise 2% in October, as its car sales climbed 11% while its truck sales fell 35%. The month was the best Mercedes has ever had in the US, with total sales of 19,273 vehicles. Its year-to-date sales also were a record 178,720 units, a 3.6% increase from last year.
