LOS ANGELES: Rainbow Media Holdings, owner of AMC, Fuse, The Independent Film Channel, and WE: Women's Entertainment, has hired a new head of marketing and communications.
Jim Weiss takes the title of SVP at Rainbow, where he will be in charge of media relations, public affairs, employee relations, government relations, and financial communications. He will also be responsible for all activities relating to brand identity, including strategy and execution for major industry events. He reports directly to president and CEO Joshua Sapan.
Weiss was most recently with Turner Broadcasting System, where he served as SVP of corporate communications and media relations.
Rainbow has garnered press in recent weeks for a suit its parent company, Cablevision Systems, filed against Time Warner Cable over a dispute involving the movie channel AMC. Cablevision also made news for restating 2003 earnings after accounting irregularities were discovered in the Rainbow Media division.
