The Executive Desk Companion, made by Franklin, is a combination speller, thesaurus, calculator, and clock. It's navigated via three buttons on the front or by tapping the screen's display with a stylus. If you're waiting for me to say that doing this is going to get you someplace that the PDA you navigate the same way can't, don't hold your breath. The speller has over 100,000 words, and the thesaurus incorporates 500,000 synonyms. If you are waiting for me to mention something you can't get in a few clicks around dictionary.com, don't hold your breath. Then there's the calculator, clock, temperature sensor, and eight word games. If you're waiting for me to say that any of these functions offer anything that's not readily available in color (the Desk Companion's screen is not) through your PDA, cell phone, and computer... well, you get the point - there isn't any in purchasing this thing. The verdict: I'm still trying to figure out what Franklin was thinking by coming out with such an archaic product. Spend your $50 on something useful. Any questions?
