CHICAGO: Bacon's Information last week purchased competitor MediaMap in a $23 million transaction that seems to underscore the trend of further consolidation in the communication management-services market.
Following the deal, customers will be able to access both companies' services. "We'll be able to leverage each other's strengths to each other's client base," said Bacon's president and COO Joe Bernardo. "MediaMap has had great success at the top end of the market - the large firms and corporations - with its communications-management software. We've [succeeded] at the mid- to low-level market with our list-management software. Our data is complementary."
MediaMap's strength is in its industry-specific data, while Bacon's is known more for broad-based information.
Bernardo said that he anticipated no major changes to the companies' workforces. "We'll continue to support the MediaMap platforms," he said, adding that Bacon's would maintain a large presence in Boston, where MediaMap is headquartered.
