DUBLIN, CA: Sybase has hired Leslie Nakajima to fill the new position of senior director of corporate communications. Nakajima will oversee all internal and external communications for the software company.
Once known for its database technology, Sybase has become more diversified, moving into wireless software and middleware, as well as enterprise and mobile infrastructure, integration, and application-development software.
"We have a number of focuses, and we want to develop more coherent and overarching messages. And we just want to be louder in general. We want to make sure we get heard," said Nakajima.
Nakajima said she wants to use communications to reposition Sybase's brand and image. Nakajima was most recently a VP at Bite Communications, which she left earlier this year. She has also held communications positions with Openwave, British Telecommunications, and Alexander Ogilvy.
Nakajima said that she is looking to hire a senior director of PR to replace to Rick Myllenbeck, who recently left the company.
