NEW YORK: Weber Shandwick has hired Barbara Box, former EVP and worldwide director of healthcare for sister agency Golin/Harris, as president of its New York and Chicago healthcare practices. She will report directly to Laura Schoen, president of WS' global healthcare unit.

In New York, Box takes over for Debra Gaynor, who last month was named to Burson-Marsteller's newly created consumer-focused post in its healthcare practice.

Chicago had been without a designated healthcare head since Jed Weiner, the practice's former president, left last October. Schoen had been overseeing the office's healthcare group in the interim.

Box will manage both practices from the agency's New York office.
