LONDON: The Conservative Party's former chief media strategist Paul Baverstock has landed a job heading the UK corporate practice at PR giant Ketchum.

Baverstock - ousted as director of strategic communications for the Conservative Party in November as part of leader Michael Howard's communications shake-up - will join Ketchum next week as MD of its UK corporate practice, reporting to UK-CEO David Gallagher. Baverstock's task will be to knit together its PA, financial relations and stakeholder research functions.

Gallagher said Ketchum had upgraded its top UK corporate role to carry a more international focus since it was last occupied in 2002. "[Baverstock] will have opportunities at European and global level. He has access to captains of industry, media, and politics," said Gallagher.
