NEW YORK: GCI has expanded its healthcare practice with the creation of a new SVP post. The firm named Bill Martin, former head of corporate communications, IR, and product PR for biopharmaceutical company SangStat to the new post.

Martin, who before SangStat worked at Matrix Pharmaceuticals, a development-stage, oncology-focused biotech, will report to GCI's North American healthcare practice leader, AnnaMaria DeSalva. Before Matrix, Martin worked at Dorland Global Health Communications.

On his decision to rejoin agency life, Martin said, "GCI shares my belief that integrating corporate communications, product PR, and IR can provide real value" to biotech and specialty pharma companies.
