NEW YORK: Burson-Marsteller's president/CEO of the Northeast region Andy Hopson has left the PR business to start his own company, Real Good Idea.

Hopson formed the new entity with patent attorney Steve Gordon. Hopson only joined Burson in July 2003, after having served as president and COO of Publicis Dialog. He worked in PR for more than 20 years. "With the improving economy and a wonderful opportunity staring me in the face, it's time, now or never, to become an entrepreneur," Hopson wrote in a letter sent to PRWeek. "This is a big step, but it's one I take with the same determination and confidence that I took as part of a management team that built EvansGroup into an advertising and public relations powerhouse that was sold to Publicis for many millions of dollars."
