New York: As part of Warner Music Group?s (WMG) restructuring under new ownership, the company named Will Tanous its new head of communications.
The company announced its initial management team earlier this month at the same time it disclosed its plans to shed 20% of its global workforce.
Tanous, who is the company?s senior spokesman, will report to chairman and CEO Edgar Bronfman Jr., as will all other corporate staff.
Recently, Bronfman led a group of investors in buying the ailing music unit from parent company Time Warner for $2.6 billion. WMG is comprised of record labels including Atlantic, Elektra, Maverick, Rhino, and Nonesuch.
Tanous joined Time Warner in 1993 as a publicist. Since then, he?s helped craft company and industrywide efforts, including launching new audio formats. He also headed up communications for Time Warner?s sale of the music group?s CD and DVD manufacturing, printing, packaging, distribution, and merchandising businesses.
Tanous, who created HBO?s live music series, Reverb, also has been the president of two record labels.
