NEW YORK: Andy Polansky has been named president of Weber Shandwick (WS) by firm CEO Harris Diamond. For the last year and a half, Polansky had been president of Weber Shandwick North America. He will now oversee the firm's global operations as an expansion of his current responsibilities.
The move would seem to alleviate some management burden from Diamond, who currently oversees the rest of the PR holdings for its parent company, Interpublic Group. Those holdings include: Golin/Harris, MWW Group, and DeVries Public Relations.
Diamond denied that Polansky's increased authority was part of a larger succession plan for the firm that might see Diamond eventually leave WS and join IPG on a full-time basis. When pressed about a possible successor, the firm's CEO gave no hint that he planned to leave the firm he helped build.
"I plan to live forever," Diamond quipped.
