AUSTIN, TX: Motorola Semiconductor has selected Lois Paul & Partners to handle its US corporate communications, which was previously a Hill & Knowlton account. Lois Paul already oversees product PR for the company in the US, an account that the agency has had for four years.
Motorola PR manager Starlyn Aurit declined to provide additional information. The company is in an SEC-mandated quiet period because of its impending IPO.
"The semiconductor industry is at the beginning of another growth sector," said Joe Cordo, the Lois Paul SVP. "Although there are some questions as to how it will play out, there is a whole new growth opportunity around communications, such as with cell phones and processors for the internet. There are going to be more than 25 companies worldwide competing for that business."
Cordo said that the agency won the account because of its experience integrating corporate and product PR for companies, including Nortel Networks and StorageTek, as well as its past experience with Intel and Royal Philips Electronics.
