NEW YORK: Business Wire is introducing NewsTrak Compass, an online news-monitoring service. Launching this week, BW developed the service through a partnership with Delahaye, the communications analysis division of Medialink Worldwide.
Subscribers can track companies and media trends by keywords. NewsTrak Compass, though, is not a search engine like Google. "It's a unique web-site for each user," explained Gregg Castano, SVP for global sales at BW.
Subscribers can set up an account through BW with keywords about a company. When information is found involving those keywords, the information is added to the website each subscriber is given. The websites are run in real time, Castano said, so information is available on demand. Keywords can be changed or added through a phone call to BW.
An annual subscription to NewsTrak Compass is $11,400 up-front. BW is offering a six-month subscription of $6,600 for a limited time.
NewsTrak Compass can search more than 6,000 internet news and information sites.
"A key factor is that this is very, very state-of-the-art," Michael Lissauer, BW's SVP, said the week before NewsTrak Compass' launch. "And from the research we've done, we know PR people are looking for media intelligence, above a clipping service."
