Publicis Groupe's Q1 revenue drops

PARIS: Publicis Groupe's revenue declined 4.3% for the First Quarter of 2004 compared to the same period last year. according to a May 5 statement from the world's fourth-largest agency holding company. A weak dollar caused the decline, according to Paris-based Publicis. Publicis' revenue was more than $1 billion for the quarter, based on conversion rates on May 6.

The statement did not break out how much of the revenue came from the company's PR agencies: Publicis Dialog, Publicis Consultants, MS&L and Rowland Communications. CEO Maurice Levy said in the statement that he expects revenue to increase.

"I remain entirely confident of prospects for the industry for the current year," Levy said.

The company did not return calls for further comment.
