RICHMOND, VA: GE Financial has named Jean Peters, formerly of John Hancock Financial Services, SVP of investor relations and corporate communications of Genworth Financial, the spin-off company anticipating its IPO.

Peters will be responsible for global communications to investors, the media, and ratings agencies. She will report to chairman, president, and CEO Michael D. Fraizer.

During her tenure as SVP for investor relations at John Hancock Financial Services, Peters led investor communications for transactions including its IPO, in 2000, and its merger with Manulife Financial, which was completed last month.

Genworth's IPO is much anticipated in the Wall Street community and is slated to be completed in the first half of this year. The company consists of much of GE Financial's life and mortgage insurance operations and will have assets of nearly $100 billion.

Last month, GE Financial named Financial Dynamics as the company's PR agency of record.

Prior to John Hancock, Peters worked at both Allmerica Financial Corp. and Capital Holding Company, and was a reporter at several newspapers.
