Symantec selects CarryOn to handle broadcast efforts

CUPERTINO, CA: Security software company Symantec has picked CarryOn Communication as its new consumer agency. Symantec retains Connect PR as its corporate agency.

CUPERTINO, CA: Security software company Symantec has picked CarryOn Communication as its new consumer agency. Symantec retains Connect PR as its corporate agency.

Symantec had worked with Faiola Davis PR for about six years. But after WongDoody Communications acquired Faiola in September, the company eventually decided to conduct

a search.

"We are grateful for the work WongDoody did," said Colleen McKenna, worldwide director of consumer PR. "But we've clearly changed as a company since we began working with Faiola Davis."

CarryOn will focus largely on broadcast and lifestyle media. Broadcast media is of particular importance to Symantec when the company needs to educate the public during a computer virus outbreak.

"CarryOn will really help us educate the public about the threats that are out there," she said. "It takes a talented PR team to convey security issues in a way that people understand. It can be overwhelming because there is so much information out there."
