NEW YORK: The PR operations of JP Morgan Chase and Bank One have been combined following the finalization of the merger of the two banks, said Tom Kelly, Bank One?s SVP of corporate media relations.

The new operation will be overseen by Fred Hill, JP Morgan?s EVP of marketing and communications.

The headquarters for the merged entity will be in New York. Bank One is based in Chicago.

Hill will report to JP Morgan chairman and CEO Bill Harrison. Joe Evangelisti, currently the global media head at JP Morgan, will maintain that role post-merger.

The new operations were announced internally in late March, said Kelly, who will become head of US regional and retail media in the new company.

The merger, which will create the nation?s second-largest bank, is set for July 1.

A major rebranding initiative is planned over the next year to subsume the Bank One brand into the JP Morgan brand.

Bank One will disappear from the New York Stock Exchange.
