NEW YORK: Interpublic Group (IPG) has announced that Michael Roth, chairman and CEO of The MONY Group and a member of the holding company's board, will join IPG as chairman effective July 15.
CEO and president David Bell formerly held that role.
This date follows the anticipated closing date of AXA Financial Services Group's acquisition of MONY Group.
Christopher Coughlin, IPG's COO and CFO, will retire at the end of the year. SVP for finance Robert Thompson will assume Coughlin's role as CFO at the end of the second quarter. The company did not announce in the press release who would assume Coughlin's COO duties.
Couglin said in a statement that he would like to spend more time with his family and pursue other activities.
Michael Roth joined the MONY Group in 1989 as EVP and CFO. He became chairman and CEO in 1993. Prior to joining MONY, Roth was EVP and CFO of Primerica and a Partner at Coopers & Lybrand.
Interpublic Group owns DeVries Public Relations, Golin Harris, The MWW Group, and Weber Shandwick.
