Montego Bay, Jamaica: The resort Half Moon, Montego Bay has named Dan Klores Communications (DKC) its AOR. The amount of the account was undisclosed.
After inviting agencies to submit, Half Moon came up with a short list of four agencies. Brian Cronin & Associates (BCA) had been resort's previous AOR for ten years. The firm did not participate in the pitch process. Marcia McLaughlin, Half Moon PR manager, and BCA PR director Virginia Haynes agreed that the split was amicable.
McLaughlin cited the change as the resort's desire to "bring other expertise to the table for the anniversary."
Half Moon first met DKC through the pitch process and hired the firm based on its luxury hotel and goods experience. Diane Briskin, DKC hospitality and lifestyle group EVP leads a five-member core team.
The account, which went into effect June 1, will initially focus on coordinating the resort's 50th anniversary and publicizing the renovation of the property. Half Moon is in the process of a multi-million dollar, five-year renovation program, which began late 2003. DKC will also handle all of the resort's publicity.
"We're going after long-lead and short-lead lifestyle and consumer publications," Briskin said.
