LOS ANGELES: Continuing its push towards offering integrated marketing services, Bragman Nyman Cafarelli has hired a branding expert, Doug Scott, to head its New York office.
For the past few years, BNC has steadily shifted its focus away from traditional PR and embraced what company principal Michael Nyman describes as "pop culture marketing."
"It's not so much about PR," explained Nyman. "I really see this as being different. Our business is about bringing together non-traditional marketing strategies with traditional public relations. Doug is a unique marketer. He's a guy who can understand how to bring those two worlds together."
Nyman added that Scott is also charged with strengthening New York operations and increasing the firm's presence in that market. Currently that office has 15 people, while the L.A. office has more than 100.
Scott most recently ran his own company, Matter, which produced Ford-sponsored LOHAS 8, a conference on alternative energy, organic food, and other green topics.
He also produced a music festival called Blender during this year's Sundance Film Festival. Last year he co-executive produced "Diddy Runs the City" for MTV when Sean Combs ran the ING New York City Marathon.
Before co-founding Matter, Scott was EVP of marketing, and branded entertainment creative director at Hypnotic, which ran the Chrysler Million Dollar Film Festival. Before that, he was EVP of sales and marketing and GM of the Hollywood Stock Exchange.
