NEW YORK: Clothing designer Tommy Hilfiger has chosen Dan Klores Communications as its AOR for an undisclosed sum.
Caren Bell, Tommy Hilfiger's SVP of corporate communications, said that Euro RSCG Middleberg (now part of Euro RSCG Magnet) was previously the company's AOR, but she said Tommy Hilfiger hadn't worked with an outside agency for a year. Bell said she met with other firms before hiring DKC. She wouldn't name those firms.
DKC EVP Lois Najarian and VP Rob Shuter will lead the four-person account.
"I really needed some additional support, and Dan Klores has an excellent reputation," Bell said. "They came highly recommended by everyone I spoke to."
She added that Klores' experience with different types of media contacts was a boon.
"Tommy utilizes a lot of entertainment, music and fashion contacts," she said. "There's a broader audience for our brand."
Bell hopes the agency helps Tommy Hilfiger build upon its brand initiatives this year, including the launch of its new product line, H. Additionally, the company has its 20th anniversary approaching and will be devising a press strategy for its promotion.
DKC was also recently chosen by IFP/New York to promote some upcoming events. The not-for-profit New York independent film advocacy organization will be holding the IFP/New York's 26th Annual Market during the week of September 19th and the IFP Gotham Awards ceremony on December 1st.
