NEW YORK: Two PR firms have increased their healthcare practices, each adding a new senior-level position.
The agencies, Porter Novelli and DeVries, cite growth in healthcare as the prime reason for expansion.
At Porter Novelli, Greg Baird has been named partner in the New York office. He will direct the healthcare practice starting next Monday. He joins from Novartis, where he oversaw global communications.
"Healthcare is probably the largest area for them, [but the position is] going to be beyond just healthcare," Baird said, adding that he will leverage his corporate experience to also focus on public affairs.
Paul Oestreicher will lead the healthcare practice at DeVries, where he hopes to expand beyond the agency's core strengths in beauty and fashion while still using those consumer-focused strategies. He noted that he hopes to expand the practice internally with new hires, and in scope by working "more deeply" on corporate issues and developing third-party partners.
Oestreicher joined from Sanofi-Synthelabo, where he was VP of communications.
