LOS ANGELES: FischerHealth, an agency that specializes in healthcare, has opened a Minneapolis office to go after healthcare and medical-devices accounts across the Midwest.
Andrew Cone, an 18-year veteran of the medical-device business, has been hired as an SVP in Minneapolis. He is searching for a second person with PR agency experience to work with him, said Roger Fischer, president and CEO of the firm.
"Minneapolis is the hub of the medical-device world," Fischer explained about why he decided to open an office there. Fischer already has a client based in the area. Guidant, which has its headquarters in Indiana, has its largest division in St. Paul, Fischer said.
FischerHealth has been expanding since its acquisition nine months ago by Porter Novelli. It has set up outposts in Sacramento, CA, Washington, DC, Atlanta, and New York, locating staffers in existing PN offices.
The agency's Minneapolis operation will be a freestanding office because PN has no Twin Cities presence, Fischer said.
It had 38 employees when PN bought it and is now up to 45. Its practice areas include health services, life sciences, and health information technology, in addition to medical devices.
