NEW YORK: Euro RSCG Worldwide said Thursday that it has named 37-year-old David Jones CEO of the agency's New York office. Jones will assume the newly created office immediately.
Euro RSCG Worldwide, the largest unit of Havas, is an integrated agency with 223 offices engaged in advertising, marketing services, corporate communications and interactive marketing.
Jones will run the day-to-day operations of the New York flagship office and report to Ron Berger, the CEO and chief creative officer of the New York and San Francisco offices.
The New York office handles clients such as Aventis, Intel, MCI, and Nestle.
Owen Dougherty, Euro RSCG's chief communications officer, said Jones is "like a boy wonder" in his meteoric rise within the company. He credited Jones' "drive, smarts, and charisma" for propelling him the ranks.
Dougherty said that the agency engaged in an extensive external search to fill the new position, but was happy to find a candidate inside the organization.
Jones, who joined Euro RSCG Australia six years ago, is moving from his current position as the firm's EVP and managing director of global business, which he has held since last year.
During the same period, Jones has also been the global brand director for the $500 million Reckitt Benckiser account.
He was CEO of Euro RSCG Australia by the time he was 32, and GQ magazine named him one of the "Top 10 Businessmen Under 40" in 2002.
Prior to joining the company, Jones was the youngest board director ever at UK ad firm AMV/BBDO.
