NEW YORK: The search has begun for PRWeek's 2005 Student of the Year.
The competition, which is sponsored by Weber Shandwick, asks students to devise a campaign for MonsterTRAK.
A shortlist will be announced early next year. Each of the five finalists will be brought to New York, where they will pitch their campaigns to a panel of esteemed judges. The five students also will attend the PRWeek Awards on March 3, 2005.
The winner will receive a paid internship with WS and a $5,000 cash prize.
"The Student of the Year competition offers a unique opportunity for students to experience the challenge of developing a PR strategy and responding to the needs of a 'real-life' client experience," said Andy Polansky, president of WS. "This is our sixth year sponsoring the Student of the Year competition, and the program is part of [our firm's] overall focus on identifying and attracting the best young talent in the industry."
