RACINE, WI: SC Johnson & Sons, maker of such brands as Windex and Pledge, is searching for a new agency.
The family-owned firm has used Weber Shandwick as its AOR since the late 1990s. Prior to that, it worked with Edelman.
Kelly Semrau, SC Johnson VP of global public affairs and communication, said in an e-mail: "As part of routine business practice, SC Johnson is currently reviewing public affairs agency capabilities. As a privately held company, this evaluation process will remain confidential."
Other sources close to the search confirm that a pitch is in process. WS declined comment.
On November 18, the company named a new CEO, H. Fisk Johnson, to replace William Perez, who left to become president and CEO of Nike.
Johnson, the fifth generation of the family to lead the firm, started as a marketing associate with the company in 1987 and became chairman of the board in October 2000.
The company said the agency search was not related to the naming of a new CEO.
