Edelman picks up Scientific-Atlanta account

ATLANTA: Edelman's Atlanta office has been named AOR for Scientific-Atlanta, a global manufacturer of broadband products and services.

ATLANTA: Edelman's Atlanta office has been named AOR for Scientific-Atlanta, a global manufacturer of broadband products and services.

The agency has already started b-to-b and trade media outreach for Scientific-Atlanta. Edelman also plans to work with the company's marketing partners to appeal directly to consumers through events.

John Walker, SVP of technology for Edelman's Atlanta office, said that potential events include having kiosks in malls, participating in a home-makeover show, or setting up a panel discussion about the future of home entertainment.

Edelman is focusing on "how can we work with them to be a better marketing partner with cable providers or technology partners," Walker said.

The agency won the account after a competitive pitch that saw three finalists.

Terms were not disclosed, but Walker called the account "significant."

The Atlanta office has also won business for Georgia-Pacific's Dixie Cups and eSolutions.

Edelman already held Georgia-Pacific's Brawny Paper Towels, Sparkle Paper Towels, Vanity Fair Napkins and its corporate internal communications business. The campaign for the Dixie bathroom cups and dispensers will center on media relations and consumer outreach to target mothers. It will also include the relaunch of Dixie's disposable paper Riddle cups.

For eSolutions, Edelman's Atlanta office will partner with the Chicago-based technology and business marketing practice on strategic marketing plans.
