LOS ANGELES: Rogers & Cowan (R&C) has hired the entire five-person staff of entertainment publicity shop Denmead Marketing and absorbed the boutique's clients in an effort to boost its international PR scope.

"We've beefed up and brought in another senior manager," said R&C CEO Tom Tardio. "Technically, it is not an acquisition. [Denmead principal Nikki Parker] discontinued her operation and folded it into Rogers & Cowan."

Tardio said R&C was interested in Parker because international film publicity is a growing segment of the industry, and expanding capabilities in that area helps the firm to round out its offerings.

"We're seeing a resurgence in some of the money available to international filmmakers and the types of international films that are starting to surface," he said. "None of [our] competitors have been able to put together domestic and international, New York and LA."

Parker takes the title of EVP of worldwide film publicity and marketing and brings clients, including Lions Gate Films International, and films such as The Grudge and The Aviator, which she is helping to position with international media.
