NEW YORK: Ogilvy has hired Jane Gordon Mazur as SVP and director of media relations. Mazur joins from Edelman, where she served as SVP and group manager in the media services division.

Gordon Mazur assumes a new position and will focus on providing counsel to corporate and consumer marketing clients, according to Kym White, head of Ogilvy's NY office.

Prior to joining Edelman, Mazur handled media relations and marketing for the consumer products division of the Walt Disney Company. At Edelman, her clients ranged from Microsoft and Starbucks to Unilever. She led the media team that launched Microsoft's Xbox in 2001.

White said she found plenty of Gordon Mazur's supporters among former clients and sources.

"A New York Times reporter called me back - on deadline - to tell me how fabulous she is," White said. "People from Disney to Microsoft to the Times raved about Jane's impact."

Edelman has spoken to several candidates to replace Gordon Mazur, according to Peter Himler, chief media officer.

Ogilvy is part of the WPP Group.
