LOS ANGELES: Doug Dowie, the figure at the center of the billings controversy at Fleishman-Hillard's Los Angeles office, is no longer with the firm as of yesterday.
Two other executives who managed the account with the LA Department of Water and Power - for which the firm has been accused of overbilling amounting to $4.2 million - are also out.
The other two executives are former SVP Steve Getzug and former SVP John Stodder. Fleishman regional president Richard Kline said that there are no senior executives remaining at the firm who had direct oversight on the DWP account. Dowie served as the senior counselor on the account form 1998 to 2004.
Kline would not comment on whether or not the three were fired, and said the departures does not signal any kind of "accusation". But Dowie's attorney told the Los Angeles Times that his client is "very disappointed", and maintains he did nothing wrong.
