NEW YORK: Text 100 has hired AT&T and Lucent Technologies PR veteran Kathleen Fitzgerald to lead the agency's global corporate communications practice.

Fitzgerald will report to CEO Aedhmar Hynes and will serve on the agency's executive leadership team. She is based in the New York office.

The San Francisco-based agency spent more than six months looking for someone to fill the new role, said Hynes. The agency selected Fitzgerald for her combination of global experience and work with executives.

"She has a proven track record," said Hynes. "She's someone who has sat in boardrooms working with executives. And we saw that she has the passion and enthusiasm of our culture."

Fitzgerald is coming off a six-month sabbatical after leaving Lucent, where she was SVP of PR and advertising since 1996, when the company spun off from AT&T.

Prior to that, she spent 15 years at AT&T handling PR for numerous business units, including units that eventually spun off and became Avaya and Agere Systems.
