LOS ANGELES: Rainbow Media, the parent of such networks as AMC, IFC, and WE, has centralized its PR functions across brands.
PR heads for each of Rainbow's businesses will now report directly to Ellen Kroner, new Rainbow SVP of communications and marketing. Previously, they reported to the heads of their individual divisions.
Kroner said the move was meant to enable Rainbow's corporate PR team to better support each divisions' PR activities, as well as to better mirror the organization of other entertainment companies.
"By centralizing, what we are hoping to do is be able to be more strategic in everything that we say about ourselves as a company, down to the individual businesses," she said.
Kroner added that the move isn't aimed at increasing visibility of the Rainbow brand itself.
Rainbow's brand isn't the priority, it's more about maximizing each of the businesses' needs and supporting its goals.
Before the restructuring, Kroner was VP of PR at AMC and oversaw consumer publicity for the IFC and WE networks. In her new role, she is responsible for companywide PR, public affairs, industry relations, internal and external communications, and corporate marketing.
