MIAMI: Burger King (BK) has hired Edna Boone Johnson as SVP of global communications, a move that could result in far-reaching PR changes for the fast-food giant.

Johnson said that Burger King was not currently conducting a formal agency review, but remarked, "As any new department head would do, I'm taking a close look at everything: the company, the management team, [my] staff, and our agencies."

The company currently uses Coltrin Associates, Edelman, and Ogilvy.

Johnson will handle all international and domestic corporate communications. She will report directly to CEO Greg Brenneman.

Johnson replaces Steven DeSutter, who remains within the company as London-based EVP and president, EMEA and Asia-Pacific.

Before joining Burger King, Johnson was VP of PR for The CNN News Group.

"I'm looking forward to expanding internal communications here," Johnson said.
