LOS ANGELES: Fleishman-Hillard has won a change of venue in the lawsuit brought against it by the city of LA claiming the firm overbilled on its work for the Department of Water and Power.

Fleishman sought the change of venue because it claimed that negative media reports about the case would make it impossible to find an impartial jury.

The decision comes less than a week after federal authorities indicted a senior Fleishman executive on wire-fraud charges related to the same account. Without hearing any oral arguments, a superior court judge on Wednesday agreed to allow the civil case to be heard in an undertermined location if it makes it to trial.
