LOS ANGELES: Interpublic Group (IPG) has purchased a minority stake in the marketing division of Endeavor, one of the top talent agencies in Hollywood, forging an uncustomary but telling alliance between the worlds of marketing and celebrity.

Transaction details weren't disclosed, but IPG did announce it also signed an exclusive consulting deal with Endeavor Marketing head Mark Dowley.

"Through his company, Mark offers expertise to major marketers in a number of areas, including event and sports marketing, entertainment marketing, and the creation of branded content," said IPG CEO Michael Roth. "We wanted to formalize a relationship that would tap into those capabilities."

Dowley is familiar with IPG. He headed up its now-defunct sports and entertainment group before founding Endeavor Marketing Solutions in 2003.

Endeavor Marketing created the popular Bravo program Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.
