HOUSTON: The PR profession finally has its own encyclopedia.
The two-volume, 1,067-page tome was edited by Robert Heath, a communications professor at the University of Houston. Heath received the help of 145 co-authors to cover everything from PR history to best practices.
Heath, who had previously written a PR handbook and textbook, was enlisted by California-based Sage Publications to over- see the two-year production of the encyclopedia. He succeeded in compiling biographical entries for many elderly PR pros to ensure their perspectives are recorded.
"They're the ones that turned out to be relatively problematic, but, ultimately, extremely exciting and enriching," Heath said.
