PLEASANTON, CA: Most of PeopleSoft's PR team were among the 5,000 people laid off in the aftermath of Oracle's acquisition of the enterprise software company.
Of the 12 people on the team, only two received employment offers from Oracle, said Kara Wilson, former group VP of corporate communications at PeopleSoft. Wilson, who was not offered a position, said both mid-level team members accepted the offers.
Oracle confirmed that no one from its pre-merger PR team, however, was affected by the layoffs.
Oracle first made its hostile takeover bid for PeopleSoft in June 2003. PeopleSoft finally accepted Oracle's latest offer last month.
Oracle announced staff cuts January 14, which included both Oracle and PeopleSoft employees. Oracle launched the combined company January 18.
Jeff Lettes joined Oracle earlier this month as VP of corporate communications, replacing Jim Finn, who left the company the first week of this month.
