JEFFERSON, WI: Gaylin Morgan, cofounder of Morgan & Myers and a respected PR pro since 1973, died January 22 at age 66. He was a member of the American Agricultural Editors Association and a founding member of the Jefferson Community Foundation. A 1962 graduate of Iowa State University, he served on the Alumni Board of the Greenlee School of Journalism and was a member of the Order of the Knoll at Iowa State.

LOS ANGELES: Ogilvy boutique agency BWR has hired former independent practitioner Matt Meyerson to head a new product placement division and former MPRM director Chris Libby as VP to increase corporate entertainment and independent film capabilities.

NEW YORK: Universal Orlando Resorts (UOR), the resort and theme-park destination, has named MS&L to manage its PR and entertainment marketing programs. MS&L will support UOR's upcoming "Have A Life" campaign, which encourages families to take back their vacations.

NEW YORK: The European Commission has approved WPP's proposed acquisition of Grey Global Group. WPP and Grey entered into the agreement in September. WPP is purchasing Grey for $1.52 billion, half in cash and half in WPP shares.

WASHINGTON: The Horn Group is opening an office in Washington, DC, working with new clients, including IT service automation firm RealOps and Indus, an IT service delivery management company. Director Ben Farrell will run the office.

NASHVILLE: Spaeth Communications has appointed Sybil McLain VP and director of Midwest services. McLain was a client of the firm as a senior executive in two major companies in different industries.

NEW YORK: NBC Affiliate Advertising and Promotion Services, part of The NBC Agency, the internal advertising agency for NBC Universal, has signed a long-term contract with Teletrax to electronically track network promotional material aired by US television stations. Teletrax, a subsidiary of Medialink Worldwide, is a video watermarking service.

SAN FRANCISCO: Landis Communications has added Heald College as a client. The nonprofit, regionally accredited institution has 11 campuses in the Western US.

NEW YORK: Trylon Communications has been selected to handle trade and consumer PR for The 4Jobs.com Career Network. The eighth-largest job board in the US, 4Jobs.com comprises more than 1,500 national, regional, and industry-specific sites.

ALEXANDRIA, VA: Howard Glassroth has launched The Glassroth Co., a communications consulting practice specializing in reputation management, litigation support, and brand development. The practice currently serves clients in the financial services and homeland security arenas.

NEW YORK: Hill & Knowlton has appointed G. Scott Kirkpatrick as SVP and US director of the firm's sports marketing specialty group. Kirkpatrick will be based in Chicago and work closely with the firm's teams in Los Angeles, Irvine, CA, New York, and London.

NEW YORK: Ogilvy unveiled Ogilvy PR Inside, a partnership with Basic3, which is led by Macy Boehm and Robert Matha. The unit will focus on internal communications and will be located in Ogilvy's Chicago office.

SUNNYVALE, CA: Fujitsu Computer Systems has selected Eastwick Communications as its agency in the US. Eastwick will focus on both corporate communications and product PR, including servers, storage, and PCs, with particular attention on verticals, including healthcare, government, and financial services.
