LOS ANGELES: Hill & Knowlton has hired former Fleishman-Hillard executive Steve Getzug, one of the central figures in the investigation into allegations that Fleishman overbilled the LA Department of Water and Power (DWP) by $4.2 million.
Getzug, who left Fleishman earlier this month, has been named SVP of H&K's media group. He will be working with clients such as Amgen, Wal-Mart, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
H&K GM Bonnie Goodman called Getzug a "strategic hire" who would enhance the office's media relations abilities. She added that the firm had been "proactive" in speaking with clients about his hiring and that those clients "are taking to him very well.
"We've known him for years," she added. "Steve has the integrity to be part of our family"
Getzug said that clients he's met with are "getting past what they've read in the papers and judging me on my capabilities."
Goodman said H&K had been in talks with Getzug since last November. He began work at H&K two weeks ago, after resigning from Fleishman earlier this month.
Getzug worked on the disputed DWP account.
