WASHINGTON: Victor Kamber has closed down the PR firm that bore his name.
A regular commentator for CNN on PR from a Democratic perspective, Kamber shut down The Kamber Group, which he founded in 1980, to become president last month of Carmen Group Communications (CGC), a PR unit of the 20-year-old Carmen Group, a lobbying firm.
"It was a terrific opportunity to go to Carmen and create a new entity," Kamber told The Washington Post. "The universe we were pursuing was shrinking."
Joining Kamber at the new company are many of his former colleagues, including The Kamber Group's marketing department.
The Carmen Group's marketing department also has been folded into CGC, said Richard Masterson, Carmen Group director of marketing.
Before founding his agency, Kamber worked for many years at the AFL-CIO, where he eventually became the director of the labor union's Task Force on Labor Law Reform.
Kamber appears regularly on CNN in a point/counterpoint segment with former RNC communications director Cliff May.
